White House Cook-Off
Its so simple: “My girls like vegetables more if they’re involved in planting and picking it” Michelle Obama says in her pumpkin-orange dress. We were wondering if she co-ordinated with that chef’s crocs, or was it just a weird but happy co-incident?
Anyway, excitingly Mrs. Obama seems to be on a real crusade to reduce childhood obesity through better school lunches, community gardens, farmers’ markets and exercise, which around the White House has the working title Healthy Kids Initiative. Amazing, there is hope!
She’s now running a television cook-off, the “Iron Chef America: Super Chef Battle” featuring celebrity chefs Mario Batali, Bobby Flay and Emeril Lagasse. She’s invited them into the White House kitchen to whip up five dishes using her homegrown produce to create ‘the ultimate American meal’. Our very own Nigella Lawson will be on-hand with Jane Seymour to judge their efforts.
